At Masefield we apply the ‘Learning Challenge’, enquiry based principles to our teaching of Religious Education. Our scheme of work is based upon the aims and objectives from ‘A Curriculum Framework for Religious Education in England’ published by The Religious Education Council of England and Wales in October 2013. It takes into account Bolton’s locally agreed syllabus and the work undertaken by the SACRE curriculum working group.
The questions outlined in the long term overviews provide a starting point for enquiry. The ethos that underpins the Learning Challenge approach requires teachers to check on what children already know and then invite them to think of their own questions. Each Learning Challenge has a suggested ‘wow’ and its own suggested reflection.
