Our School

Welcome from the Headteacher

Welcome to Masefield Primary School...

As the Head of School, I am very proud of all that we do here at Masefield. Our school has a reputation for developing the 'whole child’ and our mission Masefield is really clear:

We will provide an excellent education to every child, in every classroom, every day.

With excellent leadership and teaching in school, we will help children go on to lead successful and happy lives.

We pride ourselves on our motto ‘Believe, Achieve, Succeed’ and believe that all our children can achieve well, becoming successful future citizens. We are committed to developing the whole child, that is, supporting our pupils to progress both academically and socially.  This work is underpinned by our school’s core values and the excellent relationships we form with both our pupils and families.

We pursue the highest academic standards to ensure all our children achieve their full potential. Through our exciting and motivating curriculum, our children soon develop a love of learning and want to achieve their very best. We are part of a family with a strong ethos of care and support for one another. Children at our school are happy and look after one another. Good manners are strongly promoted and our children are regularly complimented on them by visitors to the school.

Our vision, mission and values, help to ensure our children blossom into confident, polite, well rounded young people who, by the time they move on at the end of their primary years, are proud of their achievements and feel good about themselves. A huge influence on our success is the relentless high standards in all that we do. We have a highly motivated, enthusiastic team of staff who always put the children first. Our resources are excellent with bright, vibrant classrooms, spacious playgrounds and superb facilities.
We are passionate about giving our children the very best of everything. Children have one chance at their education and we believe our children deserve the absolute best.

Deciding on the primary school for your child is one of the most important decisions you will make for them. In the seven years your child will be at primary school, not only will the school educate your child academically, it will have a strong influence on your child’s moral and social development. School websites and prospectuses are a good starting point to find out more information to help you make the decision. When you visit a school you will know if it is the right school for your child.

In 2019, we were rated GOOD by Ofsted and we have continued to drive the quality of education ever since. In the summer 2023 we achieved the best ever Phonics, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 results in Masefield’s history. 97% of children passed their phonics screen in Y1 - this puts us in the top 3% of schools nationally. In Key Stage 2, pupils achieved well above national expectations at the expected level and at greater depth - this included 97% of pupils meeting the expected standard in reading. Our Reading, Writing & Maths Progress for Key Stage 2 places Masefield Primary School in the top 2% best performing schools across England - all 3 subjects were 'Well Above Average' on compare school performance website.

Teamwork is a strong theme that runs throughout our school. Effective primary education is a partnership between children, staff and parents. We look forward to working with you to ensure your child is valued as an individual and has a safe, happy and successful time with us. We are committed to all aspects of education and development, encouraging families to work in partnership with us to realise our aim, of successfully helping each and every child to achieve their full potential and live remarkable lives.

Our school is a very busy place with many enriching events for the children and their families. From forest schools, Thrive Approach sessions, specialist PE and music external providers, ping pong games at lunch, chess club and trips to London and Scotland, we continually evaluate what we do in order to give the children the very best education. Our recent parent survey showed that 100% of our parents would recommend Masefield to other parents, which we are delighted with. As partners, we want all parents to be involved in school life on a daily basis.

We hope that our website, Facebook and Twitter pages provide you with the information you require. You are always welcome to arrange a visit and the children would be delighted to show you what makes Masefield such an exceptional and rewarding school experience.

I feel very privileged to be the Head of School of such a thriving, successful and happy school.
I warmly invite you to come and visit us.
